Compact Living
Metropolitan hubs such as Tokyo, Hong Kong and London have a history of architecture and design that master the principals of compact living. Norwegian property developers are now looking to these cities for inspiration as Oslo and its surrounding areas are becoming more densely populated.
Bankveien 10 is one of the first, large scale, residential development projects in which we have implemented this architectural and lifestyle trend.
Each apartment in B10 is roughly 23sqm with flexible zones rather than rooms. These small but smart, convertible spaces offer all that you need for everyday life.
Storage and furniture items are integrated and hidden behind movable walls so that the apartments can be transformed from ‘Day’ to ‘Night’. The video best explains this, but in short, the bed can be stowed to make room for a living area during the day, a large shelving unit houses a dining table and foldable chairs and the kitchen can be concealed at night by a rotating bookshelf.
